Privacy Policy

This page describes what data BrokerTell ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and which third parties process it on our behalf. This page is maintained by BrokerTell and is not an independent certification.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: email, display name, account type, hashed password, and (if you verify by phone) your phone number.
- Content you submit: reviews, reports, comments, and any verification documents you upload.
- Usage & device data: IP address, user agent, pages visited, and referrer, stored in standard server logs.
- Cookies / local storage: a session token stored in your browser to keep you signed in.
2. How we use it
- Operating the Service and authenticating you
- Verifying carriers, shippers, and broker claims
- Sending transactional emails and SMS one-time codes
- Detecting fraud, spam, and abuse
- Aggregate analytics to improve the product
3. Third-party services (subprocessors)
We use the following providers to run the site. Each receives only the data required for its function.

4. Who sees your reviews
Approved reviews are public. Your display name appears with the review; your email address and phone number are never shown publicly.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use a first-party session cookie / local storage token to keep you signed in. If the site operator has enabled Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager, those tools set their own cookies to measure aggregate traffic. We do not use advertising pixels (Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.).
6. Data retention
We retain account and content data for as long as your account is active. On deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for fraud prevention or legal compliance.
7. Your rights
You may delete your reviews from your dashboard, or request access, correction, or full account deletion by emailing privacy@brokertell.com. Depending on where you live (e.g. California, EU/UK), you may have additional rights under CCPA or GDPR — email us and we will honor them.
8. Security
Data is stored encrypted at rest and in transit, with row-level access controls on our database. We enforce HTTPS, HSTS, and standard browser security headers. We never sell personal information.
9. Children
BrokerTell is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
10. Public and third-party data
Some information on BrokerTell about brokers and carriers comes from public government records (such as FMCSA licensing, authority, insurance, and bond filings) and publicly available web content. We do not control, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of that data, and we are not responsible for errors in the underlying sources. Business contact details from public records are not treated as personal consumer data. If you believe information about you or your company is inaccurate, email privacy@brokertell.com and we will review it.
11. Limits of our responsibility
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We are not responsible for how third parties — including other users, search engines, scrapers, or anyone who views public content — collect, copy, store, or use information that is publicly displayed on the Service. Each subprocessor listed above handles data under its own privacy policy and security practices, which we do not control. Content you choose to make public (such as a review or your display name) may be cached, indexed, or archived by others outside our control and may remain available even after you delete it here. Your use of the Service is also subject to the disclaimers and limitation of liability in our Terms of Service.
12. Accessibility
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA so that blind, low-vision, deaf, hard-of-hearing, and assistive-technology users can access this policy and the rest of the site. If you need this policy or any other information in an alternative accessible format, or you encounter a barrier, email accessibility@brokertell.com (or use Telecommunications Relay Service by dialing 711). We aim to respond within 5 business days and will provide the information another way at no cost.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email.
